Hey folks
Just wanted to give you all a quick update that the April Release for QuickBooks API v3 was completed last week. As part of that, we've published the first round of documentation and have made that available for everyone to view:
Currently the v3 API is only accessible by a small number of early adopters we've accepted into our v3 program. We'll open up applications again leading up to the July release. In the meanwhile if you have any comments or suggestions based on what you see in the docs, please share them here.
We wanted to let you know in advance that over the next few weeks, references to Intuit Anywhere will be removed in phases.
Why are we doing this?
Intuit Anywhere as a label which encompasses both the IPP QuickBooks API, the Blue Dot widget and the Intuit App Center opportunity has been confusing to new developers on our platform. We've listened to the feedback and are working to simplify our content to the relevant areas developers care about. The underlying services aren't going away – we're just removing the extraneous label.
QuickBooks API which had previously been labeled IDS API under Intuit Anywhere will be the core category replacing Intuit Anywhere, with the Blue Dot Widget appropriately under this topic. Going forward we'll be separating out the information related to publishing apps to the Intuit App Center under a Marketing category.
Feedback, concerns? Please feel free to leave us a comment. We want to hear from you.
UPDATE: 3/19/13
Thank you to everyone who has submitted an application. We will contact you in the next few weeks to let you know if you have been accepted to the early access program.
***We have closed the survey today so that we can consider the current application pool for the April release. Please keep your eye on our blog here for updates in future for other opportunities closer to the July and October releases.

As a follow up to our webinar a few weeks ago, here is the application for folks who want to apply for early access of our QuickBooks API v3.
We'll evaluate each application as they come in and we'll let you know if you've been accepted via email. Thanks for your interest and support for our upcoming release.

Hello IPP developers,
I am happy to announce the release of the IPP API Explorer. The API explorer is an interactive interface that lets IPP Developers execute Intuit Data Services API (IDS) V2 (QuickBooks for Windows and QuickBooks Online), IDS V3 [coming soon] (QuickBooks for Windows and QucikBooks Online) and Customer Account Data API calls right from the API explorer interface.
( Sign up for QBO, Add Customers, Sign up for IPP, Create your application, See your data in the API Explorer)
That's it, pretty simple right?
Now what?
You can explore the APIs and operations, you can see examples of each operation (create, read, update and delete). Enter in your own requests for testing and discovery, then save them for later.
Give it a try yourself.
happy coding,
Jarred

Since arriving here last September it's been pretty clear to me that there is a certain amount of mystique and excitement associated with V3 of IPP's QuickBooks API.
Many of you have been asking for more details about the what and the when, and we recognize that we are long overdue in giving you an update.
We're finally in a solid place to invite you along for the ride and to start demystifying V3 and getting you the updated timeframes and benefits we are delivering in short order. We are actively preparing a webinar for Feb 20th at 2 pm PST – so make sure to mark your calendars.
I'll be posting the details of the webinar here over the next couple weeks. For those of you eager to get your hands on it now, we'll discuss how to apply for early access and the criteria we're looking for in early adopters for V3. Thank you for your patience and we look forward to sharing V3 with you on Feb 20th!

With our next IPP release scheduled for December 18, we’re making a couple of exciting improvements to Intuit App Center.
App Presentation Order
The biggest change is that apps in App Center will no longer be presented in alphabetical order. We will be presenting apps based on a simple formula: number of reviews x star rating (to represent quality).
This is a change that the IPP developer community has been asking for and is a significant step to enable developers to control their App Center placement to a greater degree. We encourage you to go to App Center and check both the quantity and quality of reviews that you have. If you haven’t been doing so, now is the time to actively solicit reviews from your customers. As you may recall, we’ve moved to using BazaarVoice functionality for reviews. It’s never been easier to write or faster to publish a review.
Search Engine Optimization
We’ve also made improvements to the site to enable better performance in organic search and expect to see an increase in organic search traffic in the 5% range with this effort. We encourage you to revisit your App Card content and ensure that key words for your app appear consistently in the meta title, meta description as well as in the app card copy itself.
Additional Promotional Opportunities
Finally, we are working to open up additional promotional placements across the App Center experience. These placements will be driven by app performance, balancing paid subscriptions, retention, new trials, and app card views. The team is trying to look at the app portfolio holistically, both to promote the best of our established apps but also accelerate apps that may be showing promise. Overall what this means is more potential promotional opportunities for our IPP dev community. So keep driving for great reviews, and thank you for continuing to create great apps!

Director, Intuit App Center Marketing
There has been some confusion recently around the future of the QuickBooks SDK. We currently have no plans to retire the SDK. We have thousands of SDK developers who rely on that technology to deliver applications and services to our collective customers – So again, it's not going away.
However, this is a good chance to reiterate our strategy. Our customers are rapidly moving to SaaS and mobile apps to solve a variety of their business needs. As we think about providing the best experience and the strongest ecosystem for small businesses to find apps that work with their QuickBooks data, we believe the Intuit Partner Platform (IPP) will provide a superior experience for customers and a distinct advantage for Intuit's developer community in the future.
IPP is not perfect today. The data available is improving, but it's not complete nor simple yet. We have some apps doing very well on Intuit App Center, but the traffic and first use experience are not yet best in class to deliver great results for developers. That is why it remains a big priority within our organization, one that we will continue to invest in heavily. Our platform future is in IPP and our investments will reflect that.
It is my hope to provide a platform that developers are passionate about leveraging. This is a platform that is easy to adopt, provides beneficial services to improve a developer's offering, and exposes great offerings to lots of relevant customers. I believe we have the right strategy and are on the right journey to achieve this vision. But we also know, until our ecosystem chooses to adopt it, we need to continue support to all the great ways to integrate with QuickBooks.
If you look at the improvements in QuickBooks 2013 (improved data sync, one-click attach and launch of 3rd party apps, recommendation engine and more prominent exposure of My Apps, etc.) we are well on our way - but there is much more work to do. I appreciate your passion for our customers and your patience as we deliver what I believe will be the best SMB platform in the world.
